Why Barcy is Running
There is such richness from every border — East, West, North, South and Centrally, we have vast wealth in every segment of life. My goal is to see our state's amazingness be lauded and shared well with our neighbors throughout America and to every country on our globe. My promise is that I will work with each and every person I meet to bloom and grow more and more harvests of our best lives, now and for future generations to come.
About the Candidate
Catherine Barcel "Barcy" Whitson has enjoyed a rich life - building relationships with all types of people. After a successful career in the insurance industry, she has spent the last 20 years volunteering her time as a life coach, pastor and mentor, loving people from the womb to the tomb! When she was just 13 years old, her best friend's Mama said: "Barcy, I can see you being a Senator's wife." To that, Barcy replied: "I ain't gonna be no Senator's wife...I'm gonna be the Senator!"
So! Now is the time she has felt called to step up and run for Tennessee's US Senate Seat! She has encouraged the younger generation to run for an office - local or nationally - but they are busy growing families, careers and wealth. Since they can't run, Barcy is running for them! She is not focused on the past or what is wrong with the current state of the state or nation. Instead, she is focused on What Tennesseans Want aka W.T.W.

From the Candidate
There is such richness from every border of our state — East, West, North, South and Centrally, we have vast wealth in every segment of life. Without going through everything we have to savor as Tennesseans, my goal is to see our state's amazingness be lauded and shared well with our neighbors throughout America and to every country on our globe. My goal is to share community and promote being good Tennessee citizens, American citizens and Global citizens. My promise is that I will work with each and every person I meet to bloom and grow more and more Harvests of our Best Lives now and for future generations to come.
Economic Growth: Lowering costs, creating high-paying jobs, and supporting local small business/entrepreneurs. Promoting green energy and creativity in order to steward our world better for us and future generations. Also, promoting safe water and excellent waste management and recycling/repurposing for a resilient environment. This will make for better quality of life for not only the 7.32 million Tennesseans but also for the 345,000,000 Americans and overall, the 8 Billion people on our planet today.
Healthcare: Maximize cooperation across all of the entities involved in delivering state of the art healthcare for all Tennesseans. Continue to improve accessibility and incorporate ideas gathered from other healthcare delivery systems in countries that do health care well. Work to reduce the cost of prescription drugs and protect and improve rural hospitals and health care practices devoted to our rural neighbors. Utilize the existing Health Care Act to help folks who do not have group health benefits. Promote/Protect/Steward Well the programs and services provided for our veterans, senior citizens and those in need of a helping hand.
Education: Boosting funding for public schools and expanding vocational training programs as well as promoting private and home schooling initiatives. Finding ways to pay off student debt so that those who had loans can build wealth and not struggle to pay high interest loans off for the rest of their careers. Create programs to educate all Tennesseans good citizenship practices and how to build and sustain wealth. Make every school venue safe, secure, fun and a joy to utilize.
Affordable Housing/Fair Housing: Affordable Housing and help for the 10,000 currently unhoused Tennesseans via partnering with churches, businesses, etc. to create safe tiny house communities and such. Utilize best practice models for partnering faith based entities with public assistance entities to optimize the use of funds. I will advocate for everyone who wants a safe, secure affordable home.
Dependent Care: Promote consistent, safe affordable childcare, impaired adult care and elder care assistance so that all people have the opportunity to live their best life now and always.
Transportation: Build and promote mass transit options connecting our cities from the far east to the west, north, south and everywhere in between. Bring back the bullet train initiative between Chattanooga and Atlanta.
Election Protection: Safe voting throughout our state via the continuation of the excellent job the election folks do in our capitol in Nashville as well as all of the election commission workers throughout our state. As a new candidate, I enjoyed the great expertise on how the election system works provided by the folks at the Hamilton County Election Commission. I am so encouraged by them and thankfully, I have always felt safe voting from my first vote at 18 in Johnson City through every vote I've cast via early voting here in Chattanooga and when I was traveling for work, mail in ballots. Our system works! Let's keep it that way. And, let us promote keeping sound practices for the voting that is confined to various districts throughout our state. Let us weigh in with our local state representatives to promote fair voting so that every region of our state is represented by the constituents that make up the region. Let us promote making every person's vote count!
Promote/Protect Our Farms: Promote farm to table accessibility and the reduction of reliance on over processed food. Partner with farmers so that they can keep operating well. Protect the migrant workers and their rights to be here without fear of deportation. Implement and make more viable organic practices to keep our soil, water and air safe and clean!
Clean Environment: Promote green spaces and join with area businesses to clean up any factory byproducts e.g., the release of toxic smelling exhaust fumes that are very unhealthy and stink up our lovely businesses residing near them. Let's work together to find solutions.
Provision for Our Peace Keepers: Implement and maximize state of the art, consistent training tools and continuing education requirements for every individual dedicated to keeping the smallest community to the largest, safe and thriving. Promote peace for all people via integrous police organizations. Use trauma informed training to optimize interventions with mentally challenged ones and other situations that arise in every community.
Generational Optimization: Create spaces for generations to share life so that elders join with the next generations to exchange ideas, dream new ideas and encourage implementation of such via time, talent and treasure.
New Wannabe Tennesseans: Build networks for helping refugees and immigrants who need assistance for rebuilding their lives right here in our wonderful state. In other words, be good neighbors!
Science and Technology: Encourage dreamers and brilliant thinkers who have great ideas for the use of AI, Quantum Computing, etc... and all of the inventions yet to be invented. Advocate think tanks and implementation tanks that take dreams and make them reality.
